How Atma & Alchemy Art Works
A curated art platform built around one principle: verified authorship. Every artist is vetted. Every acquisition is traceable. Every collaboration is fair.
The Artist's Journey
Atma & Alchemy Art is not a platform you simply sign up for. We are a curated gallery with a deliberate admission process designed to protect the integrity of the work we exhibit, the trust of our collectors, and the long-term value of every artist's portfolio. What follows is a complete walkthrough of the entire artist journey — from discovering us to managing a thriving gallery presence.
Phase 1: Discovery & Research
Before you apply, we encourage you to explore the platform. Browse our current collections and exhibitions to understand the level of work and the aesthetic sensibility we curate. We do not enforce a single style — we celebrate diversity in medium, tradition, and vision — but we do maintain a consistent commitment to technical mastery, intentional creativity, and original voice.
Review the Platform Fees page to understand the economic model. Our primary commission rate is 5%, which reflects our investment in infrastructure, marketing, and curatorial support that actively drives collector acquisition. Compare this to traditional gallery commissions of 40–60%, and to most digital platform fees of 10–30%.
Phase 2: Application Submission
The application process is designed to be thorough without being burdensome. Here is what you will need to prepare:
- Portfolio of 10–20 Works: Submit high-resolution images of your strongest recent work. We recommend including work from the past 3 years. Diversity in your portfolio helps us understand your range, but coherence demonstrates your artistic identity.
- Artist Statement (250–500 words): Describe your practice, your influences, and what you seek to communicate through your art. Write for a sophisticated, non-specialist audience — collectors who appreciate art deeply but may not share your technical vocabulary.
- Professional Biography: Include exhibition history, formal training, awards, or other relevant credentials. Self-taught artists are actively welcomed; we evaluate the work, not the academic pedigree.
- Identity Verification: A government-issued ID (passport, national identity card, or driver's license). This is used solely for identity confirmation and is processed securely with encryption. We do not share this document with any third party except as required by law.
- Social or Website Presence: Not mandatory, but a working website or active social profile helps our team understand your creative context and collector relationships.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Review typically takes 2–4 weeks. You will receive an email notification at the email address provided in your application. We review every application personally — no automated rejection based on metrics alone.
Phase 3: Curation Review
Our editorial team evaluates applications against the following criteria, in order of priority:
- Originality: Does the work demonstrate a clearly personal creative vision, or is it derivative of trending styles without meaningful contribution?
- Technical Mastery: Is the artist in command of their chosen medium? We look for intentional choices, not accidental effects.
- Artistic Maturity: Does the body of work show development and coherence over time? We are not looking for uniformity, but for evidence of a disciplined practice.
- Market Readiness: Is the artist prepared to engage professionally with collectors? This includes quality of presentation, responsiveness, and realistic pricing.
- Platform Fit: While we celebrate diversity, we consider whether the artist's work enriches our existing community and whether the platform can genuinely serve their career goals.
Approval is not guaranteed and is not a judgment of an artist's worth or talent — it is an editorial decision about fit, timing, and capacity. Artists who are not approved may reapply after six months with new work.
Phase 4: Onboarding & Profile Setup
Upon approval, you will receive an onboarding email with instructions to activate your artist account. During onboarding, you will:
- Complete your public artist profile with a high-resolution profile photo, biography, and links.
- Set up your payout details (bank account or supported payment method) for receiving earnings.
- Review and accept our Platform Commission Agreement.
- Attend an optional onboarding video call with our curatorial team, where we walk you through the platform features and best practices for presenting and pricing your work.
We recommend taking at least 48 hours to complete your profile carefully before uploading your first artworks. Your profile is the first thing a collector sees, and first impressions in this market are decisive.
Phase 5: Uploading Your First Artworks
Our upload interface is designed to be powerful without being complex. For each artwork, you will provide:
- Primary Image: Minimum 2000px on the longest edge. We recommend at least 3000px for works intended for print acquisition. JPEG or PNG at maximum quality. No watermarks on primary images — we protect your work through platform infrastructure.
- Title and Medium: Be precise. "Oil on linen, 90 × 120 cm" is more compelling to a serious collector than "Oil painting, big."
- Year of Creation: For works created over multiple years, indicate the range (e.g., 2023–2024).
- Edition Details: If your work is an edition (limited print, bronze cast series, etc.), specify the edition number, total edition size, and whether the edition is open or closed.
- Price: In USD. We provide pricing guidance tools based on comparable works on the platform, but pricing is ultimately your creative and commercial decision.
- Description: Optional but strongly recommended. A 100–300 word description of the work — its context, process, and meaning — significantly increases collector engagement and acquisition rates.
- Collection Assignment: If you are organizing works into a collection or exhibition, assign the artwork during upload.
Phase 6: Creating Collections & Exhibitions
The Collection is the primary organizational unit on Atma & Alchemy Art. It is more than a folder — it is a curatorial statement. A strong collection has a unifying theme, a coherent visual language, and a clear narrative arc. Collectors acquire from collections as much as they acquire individual works.
Single-artist collections are entirely under your control. You create them, add your artworks, write a collection statement, set an optional bundle price, and choose a visibility setting (public, unlisted, or private).
Collaborative collections allow two or more verified artists to co-curate a body of work. The collection owner invites collaborators, who must accept the invitation. Revenue splits are configured by the owner and must sum to 100%. Once a collection is sold, splits are applied automatically — no manual accounting required.
Exhibition designation transforms a collection into a formal exhibition event. Virtual exhibitions are hosted on the platform with a dedicated gallery page. Physical exhibitions involve partnered venue coordination with our team. Exhibitions have defined run dates, promotional support, and curatorial framing provided by the editorial team.
Phase 7: Engaging With Collectors
Collectors may follow your profile, like your works, add them to wishlists, and send commission inquiries. We recommend:
- Responding to commission inquiries within 5 business days, even if only to acknowledge receipt.
- Maintaining an up-to-date availability calendar for commission work.
- Using the platform's messaging system for all transaction-related communication (this protects both parties in case of disputes).
- Publishing regular updates — new uploads, works-in-progress, or studio notes — to keep your followers engaged.
Phase 8: Sales, Payouts & Growth
When a collector purchases your artwork, the transaction is processed immediately. The platform fee (5%) is deducted, and the balance is credited to your platform wallet. For collaborative collections, revenue is distributed automatically to all collaborators according to the configured split percentages.
Payout requests can be made at any time from your dashboard. There is a minimum withdrawal of $50.00 to cover processing costs. Standard ACH transfers to US bank accounts are processed within 3–5 business days at no fee. International wire transfers may incur fees from the receiving institution. We do not charge a platform withdrawal fee.
Your dashboard provides detailed analytics on artwork performance, collector demographics, and revenue trends. Use these insights to refine your pricing strategy, identify which works resonate most with your audience, and plan future collections with greater impact.
Artist Quick Reference
Q: How long does approval take?
Typically 2–4 weeks. High application volumes during exhibitions may extend this to 6 weeks. We review every application personally.
Q: Can I upload work in progress?
Yes, as long as the uploaded work is substantially complete. Works marked "in progress" should be clearly labeled in their description.
Q: What file formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, and PDF for 2D work. We also support embedded video (MP4) for time-based art.
Q: Can I remove work once listed?
Yes, unless it has been acquired. Acquired works remain in the collector's archive and are removed from your public listing.
Q: How do I set edition pricing?
Edition pricing should reflect your edition size. Use our pricing guide tool in the upload interface as a starting point.
Q: Can I collaborate with non-members?
Collaborative collections require all collaborators to be verified platform members. We do not support honorary or unlisted collaborators.

Platform Architecture & Integrity
The integrity of Atma & Alchemy Art rests on three interconnected systems: verified identity, transparent commerce, and secure infrastructure. Here is how they work together.
Identity & Verification Layer
Every artist submits government-issued identification during the application process. This is verified against their portfolio and public profile to confirm that the person posting the work is who they claim to be. Verified status is displayed on every artist's profile and artwork listing, giving collectors confidence in provenance from the point of creation.
Revenue & Commerce Engine
Our transaction engine handles complex multi-party revenue distribution in real time. When a collaborative collection sells, the platform fee is calculated, and the remaining revenue is instantly distributed to every collaborating artist according to their pre-configured split percentage. No manual intervention. No delays. No disputes over math.
Provenance Archive
Every acquisition generates a permanent, tamper-evident provenance record stored in our archive. This record includes the acquisition date, the precise edition number (for limited works), the authenticated artist identity, and the acquisition price. These records are accessible to the collector permanently, regardless of future platform changes.
Security Infrastructure
All sensitive data — including artist financial information and identity documents — is encrypted at rest with AES-256. All connections are secured with TLS 1.2+. Our servers undergo regular security assessments, and we maintain an active incident response protocol. We do not store raw payment card numbers; all payment processing is handled by our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor.
Fair Commerce Standards
Our 5% platform commission is among the lowest in the curated digital art market. We are transparent about our fee structure — there are no hidden charges, no subscription fees for artists, and no listing fees. You pay a commission only when you sell. Collectors pay no acquisition fee beyond the listed price.
Global Accessibility
The platform is accessible to artists and collectors worldwide. We handle currency conversion, international payment processing, and cross-border compliance. Physical exhibitions are coordinated in partnership with venues across multiple continents. Virtual exhibitions are available to collectors everywhere, always.
